18U COLLEGE PREP
Our team philosophy with the Vancouver Island Mariners College Prep team, apart from having fun, is to develop players and help them reach their full potential, and best prepare players to play at the collegiate level. Our coaching staff includes Liam Goodall, who played four years at NCAA D2 Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL. He holds the school record for career hits and was an All-American in 2015. Our pitching coach, Aidan Goodall, is a former UBC Thunderbird pitcher who won 2 WMBL championships as a member of the Swift Current 57s. Both Goodalls graduated with degrees in STEM fields (civil engineering and microbiology, respectively). A main goal of our coaching staff is to draw from this experience to help our players maximize their abilities and achieve as much as they can in not only the game of baseball, but also in life away from the field.

In the VI Mariners inaugural season in 2019, we finished in 3rd place out of 14 teams in the 18U Midget AAA regular season standings, and took home the gold medal at the Midget AAA provincial championships in Victoria in August. Our guys showed phenomenal improvement throughout the season, and it paid off with a championship. In 2020, we have been accepted into the College Prep division. We look to keep the momentum we gained last season moving forward.

College Prep has a 48 game regular season schedule. This will be supplemented with a full practice schedule, exhibition schedule, tournaments, and playoffs. The Mariners are a new addition to the league, so we are very motivated to show that we belong at this level. The players have been working hard throughout the fall to maximize their potential and show the existing teams in this league what we can do. We will continue to work hard throughout the winter at our indoor workouts. The coaching staff and everyone at NMBA are excited to continue the development of our players for this season and beyond.
